PTE Exam Overview

The PTE exam consists of three main sections that evaluate different language skills:

Part 1: Personal Introduction

Candidates answer a series of short questions based on audio or video prompts.

Candidates write a summary of a given passage.

Candidates read a passage and fill in the missing words from a list of options.

Part 2: Multiple Choice Questions – Multiple Answers

Candidates choose multiple correct answers based on a given text.

Part 3: Re-order Paragraphs

Candidates rearrange the jumbled paragraphs to form a coherent passage.

Part 5: Multiple Choice Questions – Single Answer

Candidates choose the correct answer based on a given text.

Part 1: Summarize Spoken Text

Candidates listen to an audio recording and summarize it in a written form.

Part 2: Multiple Choice Questions – Multiple Answers

Candidates choose multiple correct answers based on an audio recording.

Part 3: Fill in the Blanks

Candidates listen to an audio recording and fill in the missing words.

Part 4: Highlight Correct Summary

Candidates select the summary that best reflects the audio recording.

Part 5: Multiple Choice Questions – Single Answer

Candidates choose the correct answer based on an audio recording.

Part 6: Select Missing Word

Candidates listen to an audio recording with a missing word and choose the correct option.

Part 7: Highlight Incorrect Words

Candidates identify words in the transcription that differ from the audio recording.

The PTE exam pattern is designed to comprehensively assess a candidate’s English language skills in various real-life situations.
